Looking forward to any updates. I have been wondering if I should just buy a new drive, but holding out hope that a solution can be found.

I have a Pioneer BDR-212UBK and it was working awesome for ripping my UHD discs for almost a year. Unfortunately, just recently I stumbled into an issue with a couple of discs so I decided to "upgrade" to firmware 1.04 and like this forum is discussing it disabled the ability to rip UHD. Really looking forward to any type of solution. I'm grateful that my drive still rips DVD and Blu-ray, but I can't wait to have the ability to rip UHD to be restored to my drive. Thanks to everyone that is working on this, and I hope that a fix will be created soon.

I recently got a Pioneer BDR-XD08U with f/w 1.0 which thus far appears to be working fine.

I just wanted to make sure that I should refrain from updating the f/w.

Also, I am not sure but I assume f/w updates are manual? or do i need to do something to prevent it from updateing?

Thanks,

Don't update the firmware, just leave it alone.

Generally speaking, firmware updates are a manual process, so you don't have to do anything to prevent it.

Newer doesn't mean better as you see. We had that before with LG firmware "upgrades". Just don't do this w/o knowing what you do.

I’ve got a Pioneer BDR-212V on hand and 2 BRXL-PT6U2VB-US’s on the way. Is the 212V patchable now?

edit: screen shot from MakeMKV with the 212V plugged in. After attempting to read, I end up with "No Disc Inserted".

I'm a bit lost in these replies is there a solution to the 1.04 firmware issue yet ether by flashing or other? No problem if not but the thread seems to have drifted away form that.
