Hi,

MakeMKV has stopped reading Blu-ray UHD disks, I updated it's firmware to 1.05 which after reading the first dozen or so pages of this thread maybe the cause. Here are the drive details.

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-S12U
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: AGDL004972WL
Firmware date: 2023-08-01
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 72

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F01
Firmware version: ID43

Any assistance to fix this is appreciated.
yeah sorry man its ruined now after you updated it.
return it if you can.
i have some pioneers with old fw if you want one
According to Pioneer there’s no going back 😔, but isn’t it just a matter of updating MakeMKV to support it? That seems to be what’s been done before

you have to remember this is an exploit in the fw pioneer patched it there may be no more exploits in it.

Dear Mike,

how can I fix my BDR-XD05TB?
Can't find the right information to do so.
The current status is "Possible, not yet enabled", and UHD discs can't be read by Makemkv and Windows too.

Thanks for helping,

Luca

Pioneer disabled ROM changes in their December 2022 update, making it (currently) impossible to update these drives to read UHD disks. Since the software that they authorize to use that mode isn't available anymore, those drives are useless as far as UHD is concerned.
