A bug exists in all current versions of MakeMKV that could cause a non-decrypted full disc backup to fail with a lot of "hash check" errors. The bug happens when disc is opened in LibreDrive mode.
The symptoms:
When selecting a full disc backup without an option to "decrypt A/V files", all produced M2TS files are corrupted and program prints lots of hash check error messages (because files are corrupted).
Opening the disc to make an MKV file, or making a decrypted full disc backup works without issues.
The workaround:
Making MKV file or decrypted backup works and requires no workarounds. If you encounter this issue, in order to make a non-decrypted full disc backup, please do the following:
- Launch MakeMKV and insert disc as usual, but instead of selecting "backup" command press main button to open a disc.
- Wait for disc to open. During the opening process you should get the message "Using LibreDrive mode".
- Once disc is opened, chose File->Close command from menu. This will bring you back to the main screen.
- Now, you can backup the disc as usual. Once you saw the "Using LibreDrive mode" for this disc, the disc is "blessed" and would no longer produce hash check errors during non-decrypted backup.
The bug will be fixed in a next version.
