Have you ever come across an Asus BW‑16D1H‑U Pro with a serial number starting with M4…?
I'm wondering what's inside that unit.
Looks like manufacturing date of April 2021.
If the BW-16D1H-U follows the same pattern as the BW-1601X-U then it should have a Pioneer inside.
Thanks for the information. So, would a serial number starting with K6… indicate a drive manufactured in June 2019?
Do you happen to know whether LG or Pioneer drives were being installed in 2019?
K=2019
6=June
Pioneer or LG? Maybe a LG BH50N
Usually if the Month code is 1-4 it's a Pioneer and anything after that its a LG. I've also read someone had a Pioneer drive with month December.
Honestly all drives i bought have been from 2024 to now.
If we could get members to post their manufacture date with what type of drive they have it could help eliminate the guessing.

Just wanted to add if your buying from someone on ebay you could ask them to show the sled ejected and if it has Asus on the sled front panel it is a LG.

I'm looking at a drive from October 2023.

Does anyone have any insight on that month?

Thanks.

Flashable sure, but is it likely to be a Pioneer 212?

Have the seller send you picture of the drive ejected and showing the front face plate. If you see Asus on the tray front face plate it is a BH50N a LG 16NS40 drive. If you see a plan looking front face plate it a Pioneer BDR-209DBK(212T) drive.
