This happens when people don't READ and FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONs.
Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
Thanks, The serial number sticker on the enclosure has a build date of Sept 2025, and its an LG drive inside. I flashed the 16NS60 1.02MK firmware and all is good.Coopervid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 19, 2025 3:33 pmCorrect. But if it's a Pioneer drive inside the firmware must be older than Dec. 2022 to enable UHD capability. Buy it and if the firmware is younger return it. If a LG is inside you can flash it with the tools available in the forum.KidJoe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 19, 2025 3:27 pmMy LG WH16NS40 just died, so I'm going to have to purchase something. Pricing and availability varies, but the local Microcenter has Asus BW-16D1X-U in stock for the same price I'm seeing online. So I was thinking of picking one up after reading this thread.
It looks like the most recent posters are getting a Pioneer drive in the enclosure when purchasing an Asus BW-16D1X-U. And while the firmware and process isn't posted, it is flashable (and usable with MakeMKV) with PM being sent. Is that correct?
Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
Okay, it's done. Everything is working perfectly. Thank you.

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
I just got a BW-16D1X-U today.
I think my drive/firmware indicates it should be supported. Could someone confirm? (Attaching drive sticker)
When I plug it in and view in Make MKV, it says to email the firmware to support@makemkv.com. is this a generic message or is this a new firmware that should be sent?
Here is the drive info from MKV
Interestingly the software shows the revision as A105, but the sticker on the drive says A205. That seems strange.
Thanks!

If MakeMKV is asking for it, send the dump in to support@makemkv.com.aitee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 1:27 amI just got a BW-16D1X-U today.

You can flash this drive. WH16NS60 1.02-MK is the recommended firmware.

Not sure how to get it properly in an image tag or attachment. So I uploaded it here:
