Have Pioneer drive (SATA native, via USB enclosure to a Windows box).
UHD disks won't decrypt. Need firmware update... I think.

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-S13JX
Revision: 1.04
Serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxx
Firmware date: 2022-12-12
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 61

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS9201
Firmware version: ID72
Giving this a bump. Is this a supported drive yet?
Should be. Update your SDF.bin then reboot the drive and MakeMKV.
Cheers :D

I seem to have found a drive (sold as BDR-212XJ) which isn't on the SDF supported list, and isn't even on the list of drives for which you do not have a firmware file. I've sent in the firmware dump to the support email.

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212M
Revision: 1.01
Serial number: TLDL001005WL
Firmware date: 2020-07-21
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: GENE
Incidentally, this drive supports BDXL but not UltraHD. Is there any chance it can be cross-flashed to get UHD support?

Just try an UHD in both drives and report back. Both should work. For the S13U you need to enable Internet access for makemkv to load the newest SDF.bin and then shut down, wait and reboot.

The S13U is already enabled and ready to rip UHD discs. Not sure about the other one. Give it a try.

Hi all,

Curious if I can new FW for my drive? Just created an account so I can't message anyone directly.
I have an LG WH14NS40 that's been my go-to for the last few years. But as you know, it's only going to get harder to acquire drives now that everyone has exited the industry. managed to snag this BDR-XD05 on eBay for a decent price and want to make sure I have a reliable backup.

Thank you to everyone who's made this possible!
