Hi there.
I've been a registered user of MakeMKV for a handful of years now. Best app on the planet for backing up my DVD collection.
I've just moved in to the world of Blu-ray, and I've gone out and bought one of these hoping to start a Blu-ray collection and have them on my Plex server, as I just prefer using my Apple TV's to watch something than fumble with the discs I keep in storage.
Is it worth flashing this drive (image attached) if I'm just doing Full HD Blu-ray's at present, not 4K stuff? I'm not quite sure where to start. I've read some of the instructions but I can't make out if it's a multi-step flashing process or not etc... or even if this drive is supported. Part of the number of it is, part of it there's no details on.
Cheers,
Gavin,
New Zealand.

Re: Noobie
if your not doing UHD its not worth the risk of flashing seen way to many people mess it up and all the fake drives are screwing people too
Buy a UHD drive from the guide and how to video maker: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=17831

If libredrive is not currently enabled, you could flash it to BP50NB40 1.03-MK. This willl enable libredrive which is helpful even for standard bluray as it means the drive will continue to work with MakeMKV even if the drive certificate gets revoked from a newer AACS revision disc.kiwi_rock wrote: ↑Sat Nov 22, 2025 3:32 amHi there.
