Thanks. I'm curious to learn how you know it is an LG drive.

Coopervid made that determination based on the drive platform of MT1959.

ASUS doesn't actually manufacture their own optical drives; they buy a drive from an OEM (LG in this case) and put their own logo and firmware on it.

Hello All, I have been reading and scrolled through allot posts, and other pages previously with provided links and this is rather confusing. So figured I just ask the question and provide the details as I know this mkv info is a bit different than others. Seems I have a Pioneer versus an LG or whatever etc.. Just want to clarify before biting the bullet for flashing.

Info as follows
Purchased an ASUS BW-16D1X-U off of AMAZON and installed a little over two weeks now. I'm having problems with quite a few DVD's and BD's not doing anything or just ejecting. Im assuming it is newer firmware's, and drivers since the last time I have attempted saving DVD/BD's as MP4 to File. I really have no desire to make physical backups as the disc collection I do have is in great shape and archived in an actual Large Gun Safe, along with my music.. They are all sleeve protected, and all the cases/boxes etc are all stored and organized in storage containers for review whenever the time comes.

Any HELP much appreciated :?
Jeff
