Can't Flash ASUS BW-16D1HT

Post by jlsohio24 »

I have an ASUS BW-16D1HT drive.

I downloaded the SDF Tool Flasher and All You Need Firmware Pack.
When I open SDF Tool Flasher and select my drive: M: ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_211901041014_KLCL75J0941
The MT1959 Platform has a green check mark. The encrypted firmware does not. It has a red X.
When I click on the Firmware to write pull down, I get 3 Asus choices: DE_ASUS_BC-12D2HT_3.11_MK.bin, DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.02bin or DE_ASUS-16D1HT_3.10MK.bin.
None of them worked.
Command code error: 0xff05c103.
How can I flash this drive?
Thank you.

Make sure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed. Also, 3.10 is the one you want to flash. Your drive does not have encrypted firmware.
Cheers :D

There is no 3.11 to flash for the BW-16. What did you do? Flash the BC-12? That's bad! Try again another flash to BW16 3.10 without enc checked.

Bad = you can't burn BD's because the BC12 is a combo and can only read BDs but not burn. So flash to BW-16 3.10.

I hate when people are doing things they have no clue what they are doing.

OK, my bad.
I flashed it again with BW16 3.10 without encryption. It said it was 100% successful. However, when I open the MakeMKV software the drive still says BC-12 and firmware ver 3.11.

Use the recovery option of SDFtool Flasher. In the popup, select the current BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK you flashed, then in the firmware selection drop down box select BW-16D1HT 3.10-MK

OK. Using the recovery option: I selected my current firmware: BC-12D2HT 3.11 mk. Then I also selected my flash firmware: BW16D1HT 3.10 mk
It was successful. However, nothing changed. Do I have to reboot? Thank you.

Did you power the drive off to get it to reload the software?

These types of issues have occured quite a few times with that BC-12D2HT firmware. You might be stuck with it now...

You could try using the old modified ASUS flasher and see if that works. As you already have the firmware files, just download the modifed ASUS flasher (bottom of first post)

viewtopic.php?p=70766#p70766

Just select the drive, select the BW-16D1HT 3.10-MK firmware and start.
Cheers :D
