Hi @Coopervid

I just purchased a BDR-212V. Can you please PM instructions for reflashing to be able to rip 4k UHD? Thank you so much!

Hey guys

I bought BDR-212DBK from Taobao.
The seller pre-flashes the firmware of BDR-S12JX.
It works out of the box and I used it to back up my TOP GUN UHD BD.
I also have LG BU40N and WH16NS58D, but I cannot backup TOP GUN. And very noisy.
I also bought 212 from Taobao recently. The unit I received is 212V, it also pre-freshed S12JX firmware. I replaced WH16NS40 with it and the experience is much better, at least no any error encountered in the UHD ripping process. However, I found Pure Read function need to be disabled when ripping UHD BD, otherwise will make load noise and cannot read the disk.

Correction, March 2022 mfg date.

Anyway, thanks to @Coopervid I was able to cross-flash the drive. Wanted to use the drive a bit to see if it was problem free. Probably be difficult to return it with a cross-flashed firmware.:

...

Now LibreDrive is enabled and I am able to backup UHD discs. Not that it matters but I noticed the drive now supports DVD-RAM media which it didn't before with the 212V v1.01 firmware.

Note to all: Don't be too hard on newbies for not answering PMs. As a new member one has to go through a brief probation period (min number of posts) before one can PM or reply to PMs.
Is this model one you can just purchase and get going? I've been lurking these forums off and on for a few weeks, trying to figure out what to buy, but I just see tons of replies telling people to check DMs, making it impossible for me to tell what's going on.

Yes, go ahead and post again or send me a PM if you can. Prerequisite to PM is that you need 8 to 10 posts in the forum.

Sorry if I was unclear - I'm trying to figure out what the PMs are for. I'm just lost on what's going on. I'm also trying to figure out if its wise to try buying a 212DBK (or V), because I'm seeing things that make me think people are needing special/secret files, or to ship their drives to people to make them work when I'd rather just do it all myself.

Buy the 212V, not the DBK. Post again and I will send a flasher to upgrade it to UHD.

If you want to negogiate a contract on this please send me a draft and I will review with my laywer but most likely I will decline your terms. :D
