Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V
Hi All,
I am looking to pick up a Pioneer drive during these Black Friday sales. I have my eye on a Pioneer BDR-212DBK. I note people have previously been able to get these drives to become unlocked. Is there any manufacturiing date limitations on this freedom? Would a brand new and recent drive from Amazon be able to be liberated?
Is this the best Pioneer drive available that can be liberated these days? From the "Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2024" thread I was also considering a ASUS BW-16D1HT Pro or a LG WH16NS40. What would be the most recommended drive option for me to pursue during the sales?
In case it makes any differences I am located in Australia.
Regards,
Ian.

Hi Billycar11,
I have sent a contact message to Marty but he has not yet responded.
Should the Pioneer option not pan out what is the going opinion on the LG WH16NS40?
Regards,
Ian.
I am no longer able to get a Pioneer BDR-212V, vinpowerdigital Australia are out of stock and will not be getting any more as they are no longer being made. The Pioneer BDR-212DBK is still around but you mentioned that they might not be unlockable.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:58 pmthe only pioneer that is likely to have old fw now retail is 212v or ud04

Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V
Hi Billycar11,
I am not sure I am going to be able to get a Pioneer BDR-212V at a good price so I have ordered a Verbatim 43888 while it was on Black Friday sale on Amazon. There *might* be a Pioneer BDR-212V available this week. If it becomes available I will grab it as well. Hopefully the team here can help me to ensure that both drives will be able to read the UHD disks.
Thanks for all the advice and guidance.

Ian.
