I'm trying to use the SDF flasher tool to flash this drive

It appears to be an LG drive but it's an internal drive for a panasonic toughbook PN FZ-VBD551W, already had it and been using it to rip occasionally.

I'm trying to flash it to the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin firmware for UHD ripping but am getting this error when I try to flash it. "Command produced error code 0x82052400"



I have no disc in it and it is closed. I found this thread makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30504 but it's closed and locked in so nothing else that I can do. Wondering what the issue might be.

The SDFtool Flasher is meant to work with the "All You Need Firmware Pack". Either:

1. DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
2. DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin

should write to your drive. Use the "Write" option, not "Recovery". The "Revision: PA04" is strange but maybe something Panasonic added.

Marty McNuts may give you a better answer.

Edit: Are you using the SDFtool Flasher ( see viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896 ) or sdf in a terminal?

I messed up the image in the last one so here it is


I tried with the DE images from the pack and still no dice. I'm wondering if there is some hiccup because it's a quick remove drive and has a proprietary connector from Panasonic.
I tried in safe mode as well to see if maybe there might be a software conflict with Vmware or anything else and still getting the same result.
Since it is a weird drive I wouldn't be surprised if it wont work with the existing firmware. I did read the FW before starting, not sure if that's helpful at all.

try with enc for fun
but it look's like what your doing should work
the connector your talking about may also be the cause of the issue you can probably remove it and get a sata to usb adapter and then a slim sata adapter tooo and flash it that way if the connector is causing it

I did try with encryption with no luck. I’ll try taking their connector off and see if I can get sata connectors. If not then I’m thinking it’s something weird with this specific drive.

Still the same issue after taking off the panasonic connector. It's just a ribbon cable with sata connectors that converts to their hotswap bay connector.
Here is the OEM label on the drive through


I took it to another win 10 computer too but am getting the same error. I'm thinking at this point it must just be something weird with this drive FW. Happy to test out any other ideas though.

tried with enc again?
try with the cmd and post the results?
you could also try the force flash commands

I did try with enc and same issue.
I can try the command line tool, any good guides for doing that?
