Hi Coopervid,

I have the following drive:

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 20

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06
If there's a firmware or flasher available to enable UHD support, would appreciate the pointer (presumably via PM).
PM sent.

Hi Coopervid

I've just had to buy my first new Blu-ray drive in 13 years and found that the world has changed a lot since then, so that makes me in effect a newbie. I've bought a BDR-212V for its supposed improved burning abilities and now I need to persuade it to play DVD-RAMs, since I often help others transfer their old VHS tapes via RAMs burned on an almost equally old Panasonic DVD recorder.

Drive Information
OS device name: M:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: {redacted]
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06

No disc inserted

Would you please send the file to make this possible (along with all the other advantages of cross-flashing)

Many thanks

Hi @Coopervid,

I bought a Pioneer BDR-212DBK with a firmware dated 16.03.2022, so before December 2022. However, it has a different platform, not the MT1959, see below:

Drive Information
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212D
Revision: 1.02
Serial Number: DADI....
Firmware Date: 2022-03-16
Bus Encryption Flags: 13
Highest AACS Version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive Platform: RS8F00
Firmware Name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware Type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware Version: 1.02/ID61
DVD All Regions: Yes
Read Raw BD Media: Yes
Read Raw BD Media Metadata: Yes
Unlimited Read Speed: Yes

Is there a way to flash the drive?
best regards

Hello everyone,

the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-212D drive is currently available at Amazon.com for €98 including shipping. Mine has a firmware version dated 03-2022, with January 2024 on the outside of the case.
The delivery took 10 days.

Coopervid, if these are flashable, could you please send the required tools?

FWIW, I bought 5 of these for a CDDA loader project and all are made in March 2024 and everything is identical besides the serial number.

Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 72

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06

No disc inserted
