What kind of BS in the change log: Damage prevention mode for audio CDs Never heard that drive that is not damaged by itself will damage an audio CD or DVD or BD.

DO NOT UPDATE PIONEER FIRMWARES!!!!

Yeah, I swear, if you're using a drive that works for 4k ripping, buy another drive for everything else, and keep this drive in a golden state that you never update, or use for other things so it doesn't wear out on you.

I bought a Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD from Amazon a few days ago. Got here today and it had the 1.02 firmware on it which worked out of the box with libredrive/makemkv.

The vendor that sold it to me on amazon was Adorama.

Very nice drive, and worked 100 percent out of the box with 0 issues. I don't know if all of them will have the 1.02 firmware, but mine did so figured I'd share this here.

Lucky dog!

I ordered the same drive several days ago, but it came from another seller and had 1.03 installed.

I decided to take the risk and order directly from the seller you mentioned and see what happens. Thanks for the info! It'll be worth it to me even if I end up with two drives!

Hello,

This is my first post here on the forum. I tried to do as much research as possible before reaching out, but can you please help me confirm what I believe to be true?

I have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-X13U drive. I have been unable to rip 4K UHD discs yet - because from what I gather my "LibreDrive" is not yet enabled. DVD and BD rips work fine. I purchased it in May

Am I out of luck because this drive's firmware is on v1.03 (and the firmware date is 2022-12-12)? Is there anything I can do with this drive at the moment to be able to rip 4K UHD discs?

Thanks for your help!

Sorry nothing can be done right now we have to wait for libredrive v2 for pioneers
Ok, thank you @billycar11.

I got the same drive from the same seller today. I had 1.02 firmware even though the manufacture date is the same as the other drive I have of the same model, it came with 1.03. But this second one is working!

The brutal answer is "you need to wait until it is supported or buy a drive that is currently supported".

Your issue is probably the firmware version. Someone posted how they got a drive with an old version (1.02) that worked, so I followed their directions and got lucky with a drive that has the old firmware also. Check a few messages back for the details.

You can't until Mike can alter firmware dated later then Dec. 2022. You will have to wait or return the drive and get one from the sellers on this forum.

Thanks for the answers.

I thought that maybe I need to send some data from the drive or firmware for libredrive customization here in the forum or to Mike.

I updated the drive without really thinking about the firmware dependency on MakeMKV.

1.04 Added new feature "Damage Prevention mode for music CD" Improved operational stability

I can wait for the fix, its not really urgent for me.

With best regards and thanks for the support.

I just received one from Adorma, and it's on firmware 1.02 also.

Hi, I've got an external Asus drive that is actually a Pioneer drive. It reads BD, but not UHD with MakeMKV 1.17.5 ('no disc inserted'), so... I'm doing something wrong or it is not a UHD drive. Any ideas?

Drive Information
OS device name: K:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: SBW-06D5H-U
Revision: E101
Serial number: XXXXXXXX
Firmware date: 2018-08-22
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8511
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-US03
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: E101/ID26
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted
