Not interesting. Normal. Makemkv tells you to close the application after entering the key and restart the program.
Ignore my quote. But answering “yes” to your PM. I don’t have permissions to respond yet.

cannot seem to rip UHD discs with this external drive on MakeMKV v1.17.4 linux(x64-release)

SDF v098: PIONEER_BD-RW___BDR-XS06_1.01_OLDL004417UC

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

So, at this stage is there even a point in trying to buy a Pioneer drive, knowing that the firmware cannot be downgraded and Libre is not supported on post 12/22 drives?
for now its only safe to buy a pioneer that has been flashed from sellers like me marty or asmcom
Is there any update on firmware downgrade? I need an internal drive but no seller is selling it yet, unless you are willing to do it?

Yes sorry I want an internal, I bought a pc case that specifically had external 5.25 slost that I prepared to get an internal drive for, but then can't really buy a pioneer one now.

Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie here and and wanted to check something. I have a External Verbatim USB-C 3.2 Gen1 Blu-ray writer. This below is the info I see in the MakeMKV program about the drive I have.

Drive Information
OS device name: L:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-UD03
Revision: 1.14
Serial number: AF********
Firmware date: 2020-06-15
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8511
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-US03
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.14
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I can rip Dvd's and Blu-Ray's fine, I'm just curious if I can rip UHD discs. I know it can't play UHD discs, I was just curious about this and if it could be upgraded or flashed to rip UHD discs. It's fine if it's not possible, I bought it as a Blu-Ray burner anyway.

No. The UD03 will not read UHDs. You would need an UD04. Like the one in the Verbatim 43888 if you are located in EU.

Pioneer BDR-XD08UMB-S no longer works for 4K. Firmware 1.2 is on this drive from the factory

I wonder in Amazon USA, if one were to order using Prime from a third party seller, they might still have the old fw drives and the price is the same as well. If you use the Amazon as seller option then the drives come from Pioneer directly and will most like have the new fw

There is no public way to flash pioneers currently
