I have a Pioneer BDR-212UBK and it was working awesome for ripping my UHD discs for almost a year. Unfortunately, just recently I stumbled into an issue with a couple of discs so I decided to "upgrade" to firmware 1.04 and like this forum is discussing it disabled the ability to rip UHD. Really looking forward to any type of solution. I'm grateful that my drive still rips DVD and Blu-ray, but I can't wait to have the ability to rip UHD to be restored to my drive. Thanks to everyone that is working on this, and I hope that a fix will be created soon.

I recently got a Pioneer BDR-XD08U with f/w 1.0 which thus far appears to be working fine.

I just wanted to make sure that I should refrain from updating the f/w.

Also, I am not sure but I assume f/w updates are manual? or do i need to do something to prevent it from updateing?

Don't update the firmware, just leave it alone.

Generally speaking, firmware updates are a manual process, so you don't have to do anything to prevent it.

Newer doesn't mean better as you see. We had that before with LG firmware "upgrades". Just don't do this w/o knowing what you do.

Long answer short: no.

The flasher is not stock, one can't just take a UHD flasher and expect it to work on a non-UHD drive. They are naive but not stupid. (I’m talking about the flasher)

Long answer: The Util to flash the drive is Pioneer official, the Binaries need modification for the flasher to believe they are the right ones, same way as how downgrades are done, except only upgrade and horizontal flashing is possible with this version, no downgrades. This is essentially useless until Libre is enabled or downgrade is enabled for this version; once it's done, the drive is useless for makemkv until the solution comes out.

on device fw upgrade & downgrade:
mod Revision Level (ver. #) in description section in front of fw file, let it larger than #@device,
then we can flah it to any smaller fw #, aka downgrade.

on crossflash, maybe mod description section would let me pass checking procedure.
i don't have BDR-212V at hands,i would try that next monday.

I have BDR-209MBK and want to flash into a UHD Ready BDR-211UBK as is same hardware, could you please share the BDRFlash tool
