I wound up just ordering new drives. Ordered 4. All had 1.03 on it. Using two and I will keep the other two on hand as spares in case either of these ever fail.

Look on the "upside": these have new kernels so I was able to crossflash my XS07 to XS07UHD, now just need to wait for LibreDrive

Essentially, with very minor modifications.

Can you please confirm: You upgraded the drive with the stock flasher?

Can you please post the Makemkv information for your drive?

Long answer short: no.

The flasher is not stock, one can't just take a UHD flasher and expect it to work on a non-UHD drive. They are naive but not stupid. (I’m talking about the flasher)

Long answer: The Util to flash the drive is Pioneer official, the Binaries need modification for the flasher to believe they are the right ones, same way as how downgrades are done, except only upgrade and horizontal flashing is possible with this version, no downgrades. This is essentially useless until Libre is enabled or downgrade is enabled for this version; once it's done, the drive is useless for makemkv until the solution comes out.

Good to hear Mike. Will the downgrade functionality be part of Makemkv or is the separate utility needed?
Most likely both - it will be part of sdftool and also available as a separate utility.

Exactly. Courtesy of this "event" we have a set of fresh shiny kernels for all recent platforms. ) And, these new (stock official) kernels do support the downgrade, you just have to know how to ask them nicely)

on device fw upgrade & downgrade:
mod Revision Level (ver. #) in description section in front of fw file, let it larger than #@device,
then we can flah it to any smaller fw #, aka downgrade.

on crossflash, maybe mod description section would let me pass checking procedure.
i don't have BDR-212V at hands,i would try that next monday.

On crossflash you need both kernel and fw of the target model, flashing fw only will softbrick the drive (kernel mode). You will also need a kernel flash enabled flasher for the source model.

I believe the flasher doesn’t care which kernel you’re flashing to the drive as long as the kernel currently running accepts the new kernel (same version or higher). If you can get your hands on a libre enabled kernel for the target model, try that.

on device fw downgrade,
the mod trick is confirmed on both BDR-S05 & BDR-S12JX fw1.03 to 1.02

on crossflash, i fail, it shows something about id# signature.
so it is not easy only mod some value & hope crossflash work.
