LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Hi fellow movie nerds. Sorry in advance as I am learning a lot of this as I go. I recently got a pioneer BDR- XD07UHD disc drive and was wondering if someone could help me out with what I need to flash the proper firmware? I saw a list of firmwares below but was unsure how to download or flash.
Thankyou all in advance so much! I think this is the final step I need to take to get this server up and running.
Thanks again

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
I’m almost wondering if it was just the disc I tried the first time. I’ve been able to decrypt and decode a couple other 4K UHD discs with no issue. I just picked up the new remaster of Species and it just WILL NOT decrypt it. Anybody else run into this?
Thanks,

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Just wanted to call out Asmcom who I bought this drive off via Ebay and his store there.
Am v new to the MakeMKV world and he has helped me (am a Mac user) when I had issues / questions about burning speeds - went well above and beyond what I might think is the normal support, as the drive was basically working. You may save a quid or two getting it from other places, but you do not get the stunning level of support he gives!!!
Enjoying the drive as it burns discs much quicker than my old drive, now to read up on MakeMKV and the joys there

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Anyone got any ideas why no UHD discs are working?
SirReallySam wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 1:18 pmHi there, I've recently got a new UHD Pioneer drive that I'm trying to rip UHD discs with.
It's the following:
Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XD07U
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: TJDL000950WL
Firmware date: 2020-08-20
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 61
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8D31
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-BDS7
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.03/ID05
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
In theory should this work I think? I'm on the most updated MakeMKV, have enabled internet access in the preferences and have sent of the .tgz files off to svq@makemkv.com a couple of weeks ago. I'm still getting 'the volume key is unknown for this disc' only for UHD discs, standard blu-ray and dvds are working fine however.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam

Hey Billy,
Thanks very much for this! Think it was indeed the internet blocking this.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Now got me a Pioneer BDR-S12UHT, works perfectly with 4K.
Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Just checking in. I have a Pioneer BD-X05 that seems to be on its last legs. It takes a long time to open and rip disks, at least compared to before, and makes a lot more noise than before as well, even when the disk is just in the drive even before I do anything. Also, I seem to get more frequent media errors. The drive is several years old and most of the 600+ films in my Plex library were ripped using this drive, some more than once.
I'm looking at the BD-X07UHD as a replacement, but I wanted to know. Are those external slim drives just naturally more fragile than internals. Would I be better off with the BD212U?

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Hi guys, looking for a little clarity if possible.
I have a Pioneer BDR-S12U (Drive Platrorm RS8F01) but Im having issues ripping any 4k disc.
With only 3 in my collection to test I get the error message "The volume key is unknown for this disc" on all of them.
The 3 discs tried are
Ghostbusters - Afterlife
Tomb Raider
Spiderman Far From Home
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Have you allowed internet access in Preferences? This is needed so MakeMKV can access/download the UHD Volume Key database.torkya_titzoff wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 2:55 amHi guys, looking for a little clarity if possible.
