Post by Jango8 »

Guys, I cannot access the makemkv site from Australia. I’ve had to VPN from the US. IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH THE SITE.

Also can't access the site from Australia. On Telstra ISP but even with google as DNS it won't access. I think it must be blocked by ISP.

Accessing via VPN

It is blocked in Japan (both DNS and IP), and it turns that Australia is connected via Japan CDN.

I'm using Optus in Australia, can't connect with ISP DNS but using 3rd party (Cloudflare) it's fine.

I have examined this case.
This website cannot be accessed from multiple countries in Asia.
Since Cloudflare is cached on a country-by-country basis, Cloudflare is likewise unavailable in countries where the original website is inaccessible.
This is due to the original host (Russian hosting company).
Sites hosted on the same shared server are not accessible as well.

It stopped working for me pretty much right after I made my previous post here. Gonna have to use a jumphost to get the latest sdf.bin files now. How irritating. What's the reason for the ban in the other countries, though? MakeMKV is receiving more violent hatred from countries than Redfox.

It's all working again now without the use of a VPN.

The issue did not affect all ISPs/networks either. Telstra, my home provider, was affected but Vodafone (4G) was not.

I got the Cloudflare error again this morning via my Telstra connection at home.

All good via Vodafone 4G though.

It's up and down like a yo-yo. I can't get on via Telstra but I can via Vodafone.

The 1.15.3 has a brand new network code. Two main points:

1. It should work without VPN

2. you can specify proxy server just for MakeMKV to use. Sort of bullet proof method - install Tor and set it as proxy for MakeMKV (usually socks://127.0.0.1:9050) .
