Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
I have been struggling a few times to upload images to the forum. They seem to upload, but somehow they don't come up as attachment.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Does the site refuse filenames with spaces?

Just use imgur or similar if you link to photo directly and put in the makemkv img brackets it will embed with the post

OK, haven't heard about imgur before, but probably enables me to put an image online and get a url for that image. Good solution, only disadvantage: yet another account.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 8:38 pmJust use imgur or similar if you link to photo directly and put in the makemkv img brackets it will embed with the post
And it doesn't explain why the MakeMKV doesn't want the images. BTW .txt attachments also do not work.
Thx

I don't know why things are they way they are on this forum, but my speculation is it is a way to prevent the storage needs (and the associated costs) of the server from going to super high levels. Even though a single screen shot isn't all that big, over the years the total amount of storage required for that stuff is not nothing.

Re: Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
As for why you cannot upload... MakeMKV is hosted with limited upload capability. Unfortunately, we hit that limit about a year or so back, and no one seems to want to clean up old uploads. I haven't had time to go and do that. It's been a decade since I had to clean up a forum that way, so my mind doesn't remember if there is a simple way to do it.

Click "Insert Image" icon in the post dialog which will insert [ img ] [ /img ] (spaced here so the tags show), get url of imgur image and paste between the tags. Eg:
Code: Select all

Code: Select all
https://img.doerig.dev/
Windows:

Re: Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
Thank you for all the information and examples, it is clear to me now how to do it.
(I tried testing this out, but I don't get it to work at this moment. The image is not coming up in the post. The url itself works in the browser.)

Right click the photo on imgur open in new tab and use that URL and it will work as I said the photo directly not the imgur page with the photo

Do as BillyCarr11 has posted and get the actual image url, are you pasting the url of the Imgur page? Sorry, should have made that more clear in my post - get the actual image url and try again.

Now if you put that between [ img ] [ /img ] (close the spaces) tags it will display inline in your post.
