Hi,
I want to flash my drive with a LibreDrive-compatible firmware but I'm unsure which version to use.
Drive info:
- Model: LG BU40N (rebranded as Verbatim 43888)
- Current firmware: 1.05 MODP9KJ1307
- Firmware date: 2124-04-23
- Chip: MT1959
- LibreDrive status: Possible, not yet enabled
Do I need the encrypted (enc) or non-encrypted firmware variant? I don't want to brick the drive by flashing the wrong one.
Thanks in advance!
LG BU40N (Verbatim 43888) FW 1.05 MODP9KJ1307 - enc or non-enc firmware?

rawflash enc to DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK from Marty's All You Need Firmware Pack. If you're on Linux (or you need DVDFab compatibility on Windows), you will then need to rawflash main to DE_LG_BU40N_1.00. No "rawflash full" for this drive.
If you're on Windows, I would strongly recommend using this : viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896. In that case, you would just need to WRITE the appropriate firmware to the drive (no need to use RECOVER for this one), making sure that the encrypted firmware box is ticked for the first flash and unticked for the second flash (if you choose to do that second flash). This GUI should auto-detect the need for enc, though.
EDIT : You've probably already read the guide : viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634, but just in case you're on Linux, do make sure not to use a MakeMKV version newer than 1.17.7.
