Hi, I got the following BU50N drive and try to flash the firmware to enable LibreDrive. I searched the forum with 'BU50N' and went through 13 pages of search result. It seems that I should use "mk-firmware-pack-20200720\MK\HL-DT-ST\BU50N\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU50N-1.00-NM00100-211711211006.bin" from this page: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19113. Am I correct? Thanks a lot!

You can use it or flash to BU40N 1.03MK.

The BU40N and the BU50N is the same hardware. The different model names related to different distribution channels.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I used the "All You Need Firmware Pack (MartyMcNuts)\Slim External Drives\DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin" and it works! But just curious to know whether there will be any difference between this "DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin" and "mk-firmware-pack-20200720\MK\HL-DT-ST\BU50N\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU50N-1.00-NM00100-211711211006.bin"? Thanks again!

The BU40N / BU50N 1.00 is the original LG firmware and is nativly 4K friendly.

Advantage: You can use other tools like DVDFab also.

Disadvantage (in my opinion): The 1.03MK has less problems with difficult discs.
