Hi!
I recently bought an unflashed BU40N with the intent of saving some media.
I also bought an USB-Adapter to connect the drive to my PC. Everything seems to work so far. I can playback files from blu-ray but MakeMKV does not recognize the drive.
The listed information is the following:

OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: 000000
Product: 9999999999999999
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: MOBP8TE3008
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17

Does somebody know this issue already?
Is the usage via USB-Adapter not supported?

Thanks a lot for your help (and great software ofc),
Eltonmaster

Most USB adapters only work flawlessy with SATA HDDs and SSDs, not with optical drives. I recommend the BENFEI. Works with Makemkv and allows firmware flashing.

Yep. the adapter you are using is the issue. Go with Coopervid's recommendation or check the Ultimate UHD Drive Guide 2026 for a list of compatible adapters.
