I've had little to no issues ripping all my UHD 4k discs when my drive was at AACS v76

But last night I started ripping some movies for a friend, all the UHD discs ripped fine until I got to Bad Guys 2, the drive then was up to AACS v82, and now I am constantly getting all sorts of SCSI ERRORs and AWFUL grinding seek noises from the drive that will go on and on if I let it.

No matter whether it's a dual layer or triple layer UHD disc I have to repeatedly try to get discs to rip properly. It's a f'in nightmare!

Sometimes I will get it to start the dump no problem, and it will get partially through the ripping process and just start spitting SCSI DRIVE NOT READY errors, while making awful seek grinding noises.
By some miracle I got MakeMKV to do a full rip of Bad Guys 2 UHD (which is a triple layer disc) but haven't managed to get it to rip another UHD since.

Standard Blurays will still rip perfectly with no fighting.

All this started with AACS v82, its not a fault of the drive.

My own stupidity.

Even though the drive was externally powered, too many devices in a unpowered USB 3.0 hub was causing all the issues.

Unplugged a bunch of stuff from the hub and all the problems stopped.

Yes, UHD discs are very data dense and require a lot of juice to read them. Best to use an AC self powered hub of at least 30w with optical drives connected via USB or USB ports direct from the motherboard (not case ports).
