Hi folks. Got my first UHD box set and wondering if there is any hope of making my LG GP60NB50 UHD capable via cross flashing.

If not, any cheap recommendations on an external USB drive that might be?

Um, no. That is a DVD only drive. It's not even a blu-ray drive!
