2 - Brand New WH16NS40 Drives from Newegg????

Hello,
I recently purchased 2 x brand new WH16NS40 drives manufactured Feb 2 2025, from Newegg. I proceeded to flash both to 1.02MK. Both fail to rip any 100gb discs yet rip 66gb just fine.
I have 2 older WH16NS40 drives that both function and rip 100gb disc perfectly fine.
Both exhibit a spinning up, spinning down noise when ripping, and then generate dozens or hundreds of hash rate read errors, cancelling the backup.
I have reflashed both drives many times, and even purchased a OWC Mercury Pro 5.25 Case thinking I had a power issue from my Fractal Torrent case.

Thoughts? Am I just returning these new drives?

The reported quality of recent LG desktop drives is low.

It is probably easiest to return the drives and order new ones. Maybe you'll get lucky?

If you're feeling adventurous, you could take the drive apart and clean the optics to see if that helps.

Buy Vinpower 212V (Pioneer) from Newegg or Amazon.com while they are still available. They can be flashed to UHD very easily. Just post their Makemkv info when you have them.
