OK: I have a BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD04 reader/burner: that, up until now, has read 4k discs perfectly well
Except … ?
When I’ve tried copying the 4k disc in the recent Aliens box set, I get a lot of error message: either when trying to back the disc up, or trying to open it.
What IS happening … ?
(The disc spins as if it’s being read when I put it into the drive: and shows up on the desktop. Beyond that, I get errors.)

Wash the disc with warm water and liquid soap.Cuddy2977 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:24 pmOK: I have a BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD04 reader/burner: that, up until now, has read 4k discs perfectly well

Would that work? Should it be needed?Coopervid wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:29 pmWash the disc with warm water and liquid soap.Cuddy2977 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:24 pmOK: I have a BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD04 reader/burner: that, up until now, has read 4k discs perfectly well

The disc is *literally* fresh out of the package.
Re: BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD04 1.11
Try it. New discs very often have a film on it that is invisible but makes them hard to read. I pretty much wash all UHD discs before I rip them.Cuddy2977 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:32 pmWould that work? Re: BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD04 1.11
As an extra thought, and before I wash the thing in soapy water?
I’ve *just* tried backing the disc up, again: and, after a lot of ‘Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR’ warnings, been told ‘The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can’t be decrypted’
What the fornication is going on, and how do I stop it?

OK, Cheers, Coopervid.
I’ve tried that … and, when I put the blessed thing back in, it kept appearing and disappearing from the desktop!
And … ?
Now I’ve updated to Sequoia 15.4, there seems to be more problems!
I’m having a bad week!
