You haven't flashed it. It is still on the original encrypted 1.05 firmware. Flash it to BU40N 1.03-MK and done.
Cheers :D

Thanks Marty, the closets firmware I could find was : HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin from The All You Need firmware pack. I used SDFTool but the drive remains at LibreDrive remains as not yet enabled

Marty
  • The drive is connected via single USB-C cable
  • I used SDFtool Flasher version 1.2.0
  • I point SDFtool with write option selected to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin
  • After the flashing the drive, MakeMkV reports the following
Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: ...
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

Attempting to use MakeMkv against a UHD disc will produce the following

Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\karadur/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v77_Constantine_7E82.tgz
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.
Failed to open disc

Thanks

If using that old version (why??) of SDFtool Flasher, you need to check the "enc" box as your drive has encrypted firmware. You should use the newer version of SDFtool Flasher as it automatically does this for you.
