Hello,
I saw many reccomended the Verbatim 43888 to rip 4K UHD movie
The make mkv software cannot read from the discs, in oppose the my pioneer drive that works perfectly fine.
The make mkv error says:
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT
and the information of the drive is:
Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom1
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: MO2OB1F2538
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 81
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Can anyone help with an advise?
Many thanks.

You've to flash it for MakeMKV compatibility.
Flash directly to BU40N 1.03MK.
Have a good look in the first post --->
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634
There you can find the flashing tool and the firmware packs.

It looks like you ended up with one of the new Verbatim 43888 drives with an LG BU40N drive inside it instead of a Pioneer drive.
Verbatim 43888 with LG drive?
Fortunately, you can flash it using the instructions from the
Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide.

Thanks for that beautiful guide
Just to make sure I understand, is it enough for me to just download the SDFtool Flasher and choose the 1.03 bin) on WRITE FIRMWARE? even though the revision in the drive information is 1.05?
or should I choose RECOVER FIRMWARE?
I ask that because I saw this line in the guide that says:
". If your drive has one of these firmwares, and there is no MK version of the same firmware/drive model or higher number, you will have to sidegrade to Asus 3.10MK (for compatible ASUS 5.25 drives ONLY) or (LG WH16NS60 1.02MK for compatible LG 5.25) or (BU40N 1.03MK LG Slim drives ONLY)"
Just to make sure I understand

WH14NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK
WH16NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK
BH16NS55 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK
UH12NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK
Asus BW-16D1HT on any Firmware directly to > Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10MK
BU40N on any Firmware directly to > BU40N 1.03MK
Btw.: Use "write", not "recover".

Awesome, it worked, flashed directly to BU40N-1.03 like you said and now the drive works with makemkv
