I’ve used MakeMKV for years with an ancient Lite-On drive on my HTPC to extract BR and have had no issues with it. No 4K abilities of course.

I also have a pristine Xeon mid-tower I acquired a few years ago as a backup PC. For the first time I looked closely at the drive and realized it’s a LG WH14NS40. The drive is dated 2018, MT1959, SVC NS50, 1.03. I never used the drive, the country/location has never even been set. I have all tools for flashing and will do it tonight, fun stuff.

My results from last night:

I found that my WH14NS40 had been updated to 1.05 in 2120? According to the data 1.05 was supposed to be encrypted, but the SDF Flasher showed differently. I used HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin and it updated in 10 seconds. No problems and the drive works normally. My first UHD took about 1 hour at 4X. Thanks everyone who contributed to the UHD tools/process over the years(!)
