I'm having a weird issue with my archigon slim external drive(md-8107-u3). After flashing to DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin everything worked fine for a few days and then suddenly I could no longer read some uhd discs I had already read previously. The two titles this is occurring with are the boy and the heron and parasite. I tried flashing to 1.01 but it didn't seem to help. I tested both discs in a sony x700 and they both played fine. Here's my stats from makemkv:

After reviewing the differences between the uhds that did work and the ones that didn't I realized it's only the bd-100 discs that are showing no disc. Anyone have the same issue and found a solution? Is there any danger trying the different firmwares inside the slim exterior folder?

Wash your discs with warm water and liquid soap. Dry with paper towel. Wippe with a microfiber cloth as used for cleaning glasses. Try again. If not successful, return the discs.

Alright I tried one and it still didn't work. I'm a bit perplexed as too how they got damaged when I put them right back in the box after I ripped them. Are there drives that perform better on triple layer discs? Or does everyone struggle with how finicky these things are?

I Figured it out! It wasn't the discs being dirty it was the firmware. I flashed the Buffalo BU12 and it's working now.

I do only have a sample size of two for my experience lol, but I didn't even try cleaning the second one. It's also way faster at decrypting now.

So what firmware did you flash?

that is interesting, i have 1 BU40N, i will try to flash it to the Buffalo firmware. maybe that firmware constructed by Buffalo has some better internal firmware instructions to read 100GB discs. that would definitely be a better firmware to flash than the LG Bu40N firmware.
thanks for the heads up.

1) Dunkirk is 52.98 GB
2) Oblivion is 60.88 GB
So i think i am gonna stick to the Buffalo Firmware, instead of the regular LG Firmware.

guess so, but i was kinda interested in the 100GB disc ripping without hiccups.
so maybe there is some truth in the way "Buffalo" constructed their firmware.
just always trying out new things. no harm i guess, hehehehe!!
