Looking for Pioneer external drive in US

Good morning,
I currently have a BU40N FW 1.03 drive that works most of the time, however, I have several discs that it constantly throws errors. I'm talking about brand new, UHD discs. One of them (MIB II), I went back to the manufacturer, they sent me a new disc, and it still wouldn't read the disc without errors.

I've read that Pioneer drives are better about the errors, and I'd like to try them. I need it to be external, preferably USB-C, as my desktop computer is a Mac Studio.

I've read that the Pioneer drives need to be before 2022, but from my searches on eBay and various other sites, they never tell you the FW version.

What's my best bet?

Hi guys,
I have the Pioneer BDR-X13UBK ext drive. Is this flashable to rip 4kuhd's? If not, where can I get a compatible ext one, ebay or elsewhere? Ideally flashed before 12-22.
Thanks in advance!

If you look on amazon for a Verbatim 43888, the one that takes a while to ship, its a BDR-UD04 inside. Mine just arrived and its running FW 1.14 and works out of the box with no flashing. Connected via USB-C and it works like a champ.

But, when on amazon, make sure you actually click on the item and find the product number. Might be 43889, etc. but the one you want is 43888. YMMV,
