New LG BU40N - Question Before Flashing

Greetings,
Just picked up a BU40N. It has Rom Version 1.02 with a manufacturer date of March 2024. It will be installed in an Asus Windows 11 Pro PC (slim type). Is there any reason to believe that the firmware isn't encrypted? I will be using the latest version of SDF Tool.

BU40N 1.02 should be encrypted. Pretty much all LG/ASUS firmware dated 2020+ (2120 in MakeMKV) is encrypted.

BU40N 1.02 should be encrypted. Pretty much all LG/ASUS firmware dated 2020+ (2120 in MakeMKV) is encrypted.

The drive is in, flashed and currently ripping away. I do like the fact that it is faster than my Pioneer drive. Thanks again to all.

I've never used my own BU40N drive for ripping, but I have discovered one UHD disk that it struggles to mount. Whereas my Pioneer drive mounts this same UHD disk easily, albeit reads it more slowly than other disks.

I've never used my owb BU40N drive for ripping, but I have discovered one UHD disk that it struggles to mount. Whereas my Pioneer drive mounts this same UHD disk easily, albeit reads it more slowly than other disks.

The BU40N does seem to take longer to mount than the Pioneer. I noticed that it identifies the disc as a BD Rom rather than by title versus the Pioneer. No biggie there.

Wash the disc. LGs are sensitive to that invisible film on new discs.

Got it, thanks. I just tried another title and it loaded faster and identified the disc. All good either way.
