Hi,
Whilst trying to solve a different issue, I updated the firmware on my optical drive. I wish I had read this post first.
Is there any chance @mike admin would be able to work his magic for the latest Pioneer drive?
I don't know if it helps, but this is the link to the Pioneer download:
https://pioneer.jp/cgi-bin/device/downl ... W106EU.exe
Thank you so much and seasons greatings.

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD07U LibreDrive support
Oh. clearly the person in the reference post was lucky.
I noticed a post today from someone selling a bunch of Pioneer drives and I noted in the comments that various drives worked with LibreDrive. Maybe I need to upgrade the drive...
I was actually able to rip a Bluray, but it was very slow. About double the time before the firmware, but that could be the new firmware and nothing to do with LibreDrive. I don't know
If @mike admin had the time to do a rough screen recording of the steps, I would be happy to polish and document the process for everyone.
Thanks.

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD07U LibreDrive support
It would be nice if you would post the drive info and libredrive info for your drive. Anyway, if the firmware date after you updated it is post November 2022 then you are SOL.woter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 10:22 pmOh. clearly the person in the reference post was lucky.

Regarding screen recording, I'm not sure what steps you are referring to...

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD07U LibreDrive support
Hi,
In this post (#2), I guess you replied to the OP:
Maybe there're license implications, maybe there's special software/hardware required. I don't know. I may be way off base?
I don't have much money and I'm not a developer perse, but I understand DevOps, software build/release processes and tooling. I like to help improve brilliant software in other ways like contributing to the docs and general user experience where I can. I've used MakeMKV for years, so based on your reply, there appear to be time constraints, I thought I'd offer my services...
I'll read up on where to get the drive/LibreDrive info in the morning. However, the latest firmware for my drive was released a month ago today: 2024-11-21.

Thanks again.

And then in post #4 mike admin wrote:Contact @mike admin and see if he can extract a firmware dump from your drive. He can then do his magic and add it to the LibreDrive firmware list.
Forgive me if I have this all wrong, but it sounds like "extracting a firmware dump" and the "magic" bit takes mike admin a bit of time. I was thinking, if someone was to show me how, I could write it up. I'm assuming time is prescious and the quickest way would be to do a screen recording of the aforementioned process. As I have some time on my hands at the moment, I was offering to convert the screen recording into a document so others can do it for themselves. The SDF.bin was just updated a few hours ago. Should work now.

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD07U LibreDrive support
That is only in reference to Pioneer drives that have firmware dated pre December 2022.woter wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 12:47 amHi,

Any Pioneer drives with firmware post November 2022 cannot be flashed or added to the compatible list as Pioneer did something to the firmware stopping use from doing so. As I said, this is still being worked on (since Jan 2023) and there's been no updates at all.
Regarding the process for adding pre Dec 2022 Pioneer firmware to the libredrive compatible list, this information is private and won't ever be made public. As far as the firmare dump goes, MakeMKV automatically creates this for you, so all you have to do is email it in and wait.
There is no process for the newer firmware as it is currently not compatible.
Cheers

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD07U LibreDrive support
Hi,
Thanks for clarifying.
I got confused with pre/post thinking newer was better! I'll blame the medication for addling my brain
I'll email the dump anyway...
Thank you
W.

Probably no point as he already has many dumps of the newer firmwares.
