MakeMKV v1.17.8 can detect my drive BH16NS40 and can read DVD and bluray disc from it. I want to downgrade its firmware to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936. After clicking the start button of SDFtool v1.3.5 (with Write Firmware selected), nothing happened no matter whether I selected encrypted or not. I also tried to select other WH16NS60 firmware versions but got the same result: nothing happened. I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem.

A friend of mine had the same problem. Solution was another USB-SATA adapter.

If you get a reaction with the flasher, first flash from original 1.03 to MK 1.03. Then down to MK 1.02.

Thanks very much. Do you know the adapter type that your friend is using, e.g. brand name, SATA to USB 2.0? I tried two different adapters (both USB 3.0) but got the same result. In addition, my PC is running Windows 11, would this make difference?

Read the UHD Guide 2024. It contains a list of drives/enclosures/powered adapters that work.

This one is cheap and works for flashing. Tested.

Thanks to all of you. Since SATA to USB may have problem, I find a friend with >10 years old Win 10 PC. I connected the drive to it through SATA port and had successfully downgraded the drive.
