Hello - I have just bought an Asus BW-16D1HT. I have flashed it to 3.10 using SDFtool Flasher. I cant' get MakeMKV to ready any disc, DVD, Blu-ray or UHD (before or after flashing). I am able to play DVD's in VLC, but can't play Blu-rays in VLC. I seem to get various different errors in MakeMKV, so am a bit baffled. Is this just a 'bad' drive? Any advice greatly appreciated. Have tried different USB ports as well.

When the problem exist before flashing, there could be a general problem with the drive.

Try to clean the lenses with alcohol and toilett paper or a lint-free cloth if you dare. Do it on your own risk and DO NOT OPEN the drive WITHOUT DISCONNECT any cable! You only have two eyes.

Thanks @zittrig, I think I might give up at this point and buy a pre flashed Pioneer from @Asmcom.
