Hello MakeMKV-community,
this is my first post and as usual its a request for support
Recently I bought a Verbatim 43888 and it works just fine ripping 4k UHD in MakeMKV. Nevertheless, it is quite loud and slow. Additionally, I do not like the way it opens up. It seems not that well built.
Therefore I searched a bit and found a Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD.
The seller was so kind to check the drive information with MakeMKV and I am not sure if it can be flashed or not. Even though the label on the drive states a manufacturing date of October 2020, it seems that the firmware was updated at some time. Below you see the export out of MakeMKV:
Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS07U
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: "Removed"
Firmware date: 2023-01-06
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 63
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: RS8E21
Firmware version: ID05
Can someone maybe help me to decide if I should buy the drive or not. A short info how the flashing is done would be much appreciated as well.
THANKS

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD flashable?
Pioneer, built after 12/22/2022, not flashable, so no-go for UHD.

Hi Woodstock,
I missed a "0" in my post.
I guess even though the drive was manufactured in 2020, the blocking factor ist the newer FW correct?

No the firmware had been updated, so no go. It must pre-date Dec 2022. DO NOT BUY IT if you want to rip UHD discs.Marsianer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:04 pmHello MakeMKV-community,
