Everything seems to be working as expected. Ripped a 70.8 GB file in 1 hour and 16 minutes, Not sure how that translates to speed rating, but no issues so far, I'm happy.

I used a powered USB Hub for good measure. Not sure if it's necessary.

This one: AMAZON - Atolla 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub

If anyone needs specific info, just ask. I'll try and get what I am able. Thanks.

Hi there, the Verbatim 4388 has been recommend to me on another forum. Can I just confirm with you it works with MakeMKV?

It is LibreDrive-compatible straight out of the box, although I have discovered that any discatt.dat file created with one of these drives contains an incorrect Volume ID (VID). Personally, I've never had a problem using mine actually for ripping, but the drive is also considered to be "power hungry". So maybe connect it to a powered USB hub, and never allow it to run for political office?

 thanks for the heads up. Would it run fine off a PC?

Please define / elaborate "off a PC".

I suspect he means "not using a powered USB hub", i.e. connecting the drive directly to one of the PC's USB ports.

The point is that you need to provide the drive with "enough" power :|.

Weird guess in my opinion. That's not "off a PC".

i think he does mean plugging it into a regular PC
i would say as long as its direct to the motherboard it "should" work but thats not always the case.
i dont recommend using front usb ports they unusually use cheap thin gauge wire that drops alot of voltage

I know the practical difference is small but the VID is encrypted, not incorrect. The Verbatim 43888 is perfectly capable of retrieving both types of disc metadata values for all AACS 1.0 and AACS 2.x discs.

from Amazon EU.
£91

Confirmed works and ripped 2x UHD discs I had which were very troublesome. My LG failed to rip these two.

I got mine from Scan UK for a bit less, but it failed to rip a BD of mine. Gonna try another few today. Annoyingly it comes supplied with a very short USB cable!
