Hey all! I am new to all of this and trying to make sure I am getting the right drive. I want to read DVD/Bluray/UHD Bluray, and be able to write MDISC Blurays.
Currently, I am looking at this drive on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-I ... s=wh14ns40
It says it is MDISC compatible, and I see it on the list of drives recommended to get.

If I get this drive, I am supposed to flash it with "WH16NS60 1.02MK", which makes it for all intents and purposes a WH16NS60?

I will still retain the ability to write to MDISC Bluray after flashing? It doesn't lock any basic functionality and can still be used as a regular drive too?

Yes, it essentially becomes a WH16NS60 so check the specs for that model.

FYI, Pioneer drives are far superior in every way and are highly recommended but if you want one with UHD compatible firmware, the only place to get one is from a seller on this forum.

And burnig discs with a LG is a no-go. If you are still burning get a Pioneer.
