hi there
currently looking at a pioneer PIONEER BDR-XS07TS looking to flash it.
is there anything I need to look out for if purchasing it?
does the model I buy need to be a of a specific firmware? how would I flash it once bought?

What does this mean? if the drive is manufactured during this period is it unable to be flashed?

Yes. If the firmware is too new on pretty much any Pioneer drive, it can't be made to work with
LibreDrive. It can work for regular blu-rays and DVDs, but not 4K UHDs.
A
Pioneer BDR-XS07TS doesn't look it supports UHD by default. If the firmware is old enough, I do not know if it can be made to read UHDs. That would be a question for
Billycar11.
Probably the best way to get a Pioneer drive that'll work with UHDs is to get one from a
seller in your region.

Hi
i got one of those BDR-XS07TS drives back in march for macos. thing is i may have used a flash tool for mac. old habit from pc days when i load any disc, it just reads a second them a crunch sound.. i suspect it has a issue, or it may have been knocked/bumped.
I had been looking for a tool to crossflash the firmware, if still possible, but no idea where to acquire one, or how to use it.

Most likely a power issue. Connect to an USB-C port ors use a powered USB hub.
Regarding the crossflash you need to post your Makemkv info.
