BW-12B1ST with MT1959

What are the chances I can make an ASUS BW-12B1ST with the MediaTek (MT1959UWDN) UHD friendly? I cracked open the drive to confirm the SOC is MT1959 before flashing.
I've experimented with all different firmwares, and I've used the WIN10PE_X86_4UHD ISO and FREEDOS with DOSFLASH command line a few times to rescue the firmware. I don't think there's any way I can permanently brick the drive at this point so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas? Willing to try anything.
Is there any possibility with HexEdit?
I'm willing to mess around with the chip flashing, just looking for more ideas!
