I have a WH16NS60 drive in a NST-536S3-BK enclosure on 1.02 firmware. Whenever I power on the enclosure I can rip a disc or two without an issue (4k or Blu-ray) but after that, whenever I put a disc in I get the "No disc inserted" message and the disc doesn't appear in Windows Explorer. Luckily, powering off the drive and then powering it back on after 10 minutes or so resolves the issue temporarily. But I keep having to do this.
Any idea what the cause of this is or how to remedy it?
WH16NS60 needs constant restarting
Re: WH16NS60 needs constant restarting
I have an older, pre-pandemic WH16NS60 that I occasionally have to power cycle to get it to work correctly again, but most of the time it works well. If yours needs a reboot every few discs, perhaps it is time to get a different drive.
A common view on the forum is that modern LG drives can be flaky and have a relatively high failure rate. Pioneer drives with old firmware are well loved these days.
