hey everyone hope you're well, i bought another normal blu ray off of ebay that was listed for spares and repairs for dirt cheap, it was listed as showing up in windows but wont read discs
after i it arrived i connected it via usb and put a disc in and it doesnt even try to spin or read the disc, i checked for power etc and everything was good, so i fired up the firmware tools and found that the firmware is not for this model
i tried following the guide to downgrade the firmware but i cannot get the recovery firmware to install i get different error messages, is there anything else i can try to fix this? would be nice to have a 4th blu ray drive to help rip my blu rays
EDIT forgot to add the model is WH14NS40 with a date code of 2012-11-21

following the guide the only thing i cant get working is the dos flash, saying something about not being able to install a driver, i have tried to get the menu to stop the driver signing to show up but i cannot get it to show up, i tried putting the file into the system32/driver folder manually but that didnt work

the question is does your motherboard have ide sata mode in the bios if not its dead and give up.
