Cant seem to change firmware to enable mkv 4k ripping

Im not sure what Ive done wrong but I seem to be stuck on firmware 1.03 on an newly purchased BP50NB40svc code NB52 I tried flashing and re-flashing the following firmware versions
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin
DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK_HBD.bin
DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin
with no changes happening after a "successful Flashing". Iv'e tried on SDFlasher tool and tried clicking encrypted firmware checkbox and not, Ive clicked Include bootloader and not, and Ive tried I believe all the combinations thereof. Ive done searches and tried following the instructions I found , watched the several videos and even tried to do the powershell version of flashing. Ive also power cycled the drive a few times, but there is no change in the firmware reported it still stays the same. Either way I feel like Ive tried everything I could, perhaps I made a simple error somewhere or perhaps my drive is a dud, idk, but any help would be appreciated before my return period is over.
