ASUS BW-16D1HT botched update, need help

Hello,
After checking the most recent guide:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634
And seeing my drive manufactured in 2015, I decided to take my chances. And of course, it failed, really bad:
The drive firmware version has now become "BOOT". It turns on, blinks twice, repeatedly, and does nothing else.
MakeMKV still recognizes it, but refuses to update the firmware.
Since there is some signal, I don't want to give up on it. However at this point, I am ready to dig up one of my older PCs in the garage, and install DOS on it if necessary. But I don't know how to actually fix that firmware.
Has anyone run into this situation before? And what is the best guide to return the drive to original condition?
