anyone tried the Amazon Basics External Ultra HD Blu-ray 6X burner?

Post by stanice »

Found this $99 Amazon Basics 4K blu-ray drive in my new drive search, but went with a known brand since few reviews and no MakeMKV compatibility info here.

Just curious has anyone tried it?

$99 US, slim tray loading, Micro USB, nice looking dark brushed silver on black, comes with ye olde PowerDVD / Cyberlink suite. Model number BP62N.

Amazon does not manufacture drives, so you need to know who makes it. One thing to consider is that a third-party assembler can market multiple (basic) drives in the same packaging, so you might get different manufacturers at different times.

Interesting, if it is an LG BP60NB10 drive inside, doing a little searching it sounds like that would be a good price, it would be one of the fastest slim drives, but probably would need to have its firmware flashed to downgrade to be LibreDrive compatible, is that about right?

but not really you can get a BP/WP50NB40 for $80-$90 and its the same drive except missing the aacs2 chip
but that dont matter for makemkv ripping 4k discs once flashed.

Yeah, I'd say so as the model says it is a BP62N. It looks exactly like a BP60NB10 (NB12).
Cheers :D

They apparently to now be out of stock. However I bought one the other day and successfully flashed it after looking at this forum.
