This Drive has been working amazingly ripping my whole Blu-ray and 4K UHD collection - but more so the Blu rays.
It has not struggled with any disk at all and at times the ripping speed goes all the way up to 6X...
It only cost me $140 from German Amazon -
https://www.amazon.com.au/Verbatim-Exte ... 3346&psc=1
Highly recommended drive.

Hmm looking at the reviews, someone mentions "PIONEER BDR-US04". Not sure if this always will be the same drive there.

The one that I bought off of amazon a month back seems to work well with all of my 1080 and 4K Blu rays and it's the verbatim 43888

I bought the Verbatim USB-C Slimline drive for my Mac, however it does not see any Blu-rays other than the one it came with (PDF manuals etc). I've attached a screenshot of MakeMKV with the drive attached. No logs, and after a few minutes of knocking sounds it just ejects any disc I've tried, UHD or otherwise. Also tried it in a PC which I use for ripping with an internal UHD drive, and same results.
Any ideas for what I need to do? Maybe it's broken? Thanks for any help.

I've got the exact same Verbatim drive and same firmware you do. It works great on my Mac running Ventura 13.2.1.
Since yours recognizes the CD-ROM with the manual, have you tried a DVD or only UHD and Blu-Ray?
It's funny you should mention the knocking sounds... My drive was making these when connected to an old Windows machine I still sometimes use. I just figured the port wasn't providing enough power but since you've tried it on two machines that's less likely to be the reason. Were you using an USB-A to USB-C adaptor?
EDITED

If it's not a power problem the blue laser seems to be dead. CDs use the red laser in the drive. You should return it.

I have the same drive bought from Amazon, worked for two days, now will not read any discs, blu ray or UHD.
I have initiated a return, so will have to try another make.

Currently available for
97,99 Euro at Amazon:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07MTP9VKX/ref ... _dp_1?th=1
I hope it will read my very first (and so far only) 4K UHD:
"The Return of the Living Dead".
My all-time favourite movie.

Worked like a charm!
It took 60 minutes to copy the movie which lasts 90 minutes.

...and I have a question: Is there another way to honor the makers of MakeMKV? I don't necessarily need a full version of MakeMKV, even though it's a really good piece of software!

BTW- the number of the thread title is wrong. The correct part# is 43888.
