UH12NS40

Post by Johnqmalapert »

I have seen a couple threads where people got this drive able to rip 4k discs. I'm super confused by this process. I downloaded the bh14ns40 patch tool exe from this thread
viewtopic.php?t=19780
and used the included firmware bin file. It gave me the error at the end. Makemkv reports same data as before. pic below

I ran the SDtoolflasher (v1.3.5) but the only firmware in the "all you need fw pack" only had the WH16NS60 fw in it. Pic below. Should I use this?

Or should I use the cmd prompt instead as the YT video demos?

Thanks!

1st disk ripped successfully, while the 2nd/3rd have reported read errors. They seem to be hardware related. Does it seem that way to you? I've been using the backup option.

MakeMKV v1.17.3 win(x64-release) started
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=7FA2657C7667)
Backing up disc into folder "//diskstation/movies/
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00013.m2ts' at offset '2187264000'
Failed to save title /BDMV/STREAM/00013.m2ts to file //diskstation/movies/
Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00008.m2ts' at offset '12924352512'
Failed to save title /BDMV/STREAM/00008.m2ts to file //diskstation/movies/
Encountered 17 errors of type 'Read Error' - see http://www.makemkv.com/errors/read/
Backup done but 2 files failed hash check

Yeah you can try cleaning the discs other than that cleaning or replacing the drive

But I will add that drive to the guide

yeah take it apart
only 4 screws hold it together and the front bezel unclips
then clean laser with alcohol and dry it

@Billy fyi the drive/firmware does NOT work with DVDFab 12.1.0.1. It is giving errors about "unfriendly firmware".
