Enclosure for a 9.5 mm BU40N WITH external power

Post by georgesgiralt »

Hello All
I've got a BU40N which gives me reset issues on my laptop. Both under Linux and Windows.
I'm told this may be caused by power issues.
As I use a laptop and an USB 3 enclosure, I wonder what else I can do to augment the power available to the drive.
So do any of you know of an enclosure which can be powered by an external 5V power supply ? (I already have a powerful 230V/5V power adapter).
It would be great if this enclosure can be sold in Europe and possibly avoiding Amazon .....
Many thanks in advance for your help and answers.

Try USB-C if you have an available port.
Cheers :D

I've done this on the only USB-C my laptop has and the behaviour is the same (I used a small USB-C to USB -3 mechanical adapter).
I would like to check if the drive is at fault or if the computer has the spec adhered to or not.
Less and less people use optical drives these days so maybe laptop manufacturers cut corners on their specs ?

go for a high powered hub like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797 ... R7PE&psc=1
i have used the 10 port version of that to test 8 usb drives at once no issue
