Hello everyone.

I have an external lg drive WP50NB40 svc Code NB40. I made a big mistake flashing it with the MK firmware pack for UHD. I flashed it with the MK Firmware WP50NB40-NB50. Now the drive is a brick I cannot find the original firmware to get make my drive work again. Can anyone share a link to the original firmware or is there another way to get this drive to work again?

Thanks for any help

I just re-read the Red Lettered "STOP Read Before Flashing" and see the info on the SVC number for LG drives. Looks like my choice to flash the drive is unfixable.

Scroll down on that post until you see the section titled:

only use the recovery steps for older NS40 drives!!:

You might be able to recover.

Can you try this and let us know if it works. Please download the attached firmware file.

1. Using SDFtool Flasher, select your drive
2. Select RECOVERY mode
3. In the popup window select the current firmware that is on the drive (whatever you flashed it to)
4. In the firmware drop down box select the attached firmware (which is the original BP50NB40 (NB40) 1.00 firmware)
5. Press START.

Let us know what happens.

It worked!
Thanks again for helping me restore my drive.
I tried forcing the drive to read UHD discs when it was too old to do so. Oh well another backup DVD, BluRay drive.
Thanks again

Ok, can you test a blu-ray or DVD to make sure it works?

To test the drive, I ripped Batman Begins (BluRay) for a test and it is working OK.
Thanks again for the help

Thank you very much for this instruction, you have helped me with a similar problem.

I have a LG Slim Portable Blu-ray/DVD Writer labeld with "Model: BP55EB40 SVC Code: EB40"

So I flashed it like it was dicribed here viewtopic.php?p=130958#p130958

After that, the tray could no longer be opened.

So I did like you wrote above and use your BP50NB40-NB40-1.00-Clean.bin

Now the drive works again, and it is a LibreDrive too! :D

Thanks a bunch. Same thing happened to me, I didn't realize the SVC BP40 thing.

So question, what are the options for this drive? It's late 2016, but because of the SVC BP40, does that mean it's too old? When I bought the drive, I made sure to ask the seller for the manufacture date, but didn't ask about the SVC.

I ask because the drive was okay for a few weeks (I didn't get around to flashing it, yet), and all of a sudden I'm getting a bunch of scsi errors, Illegal Request, MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR, and others. I can open discs fine, and even rip most or all of the special features and stuff, but it's crashing halfway through ripping the actual movie. *shrug*
